Calgary, AB (Sports Network) - The Calgary Flames signed forward Carter Bancks and defenseman Joe Piskula to two-year contracts on Friday. Bancks, 21, has yet to see any NHL action. His deal was worth $1.12 million. The 26-year-old Piskula played five games for the Los Angeles Kings in 2006-07 and inked a $1.05 million deal.

at the age of 64. The Sun reported Tuesday that the Toronto native died Sunday night at his home in suburban Phoenix after a battle with lung cancer. Wilkins was claimed by the Canucks from the Bruins in the 1970 expansion draft, and tallied the milestone goal during the third period of a 3-1 home loss to the Los Angeles Kings on October 9, 1970. Over 398 NHL games, Wilkins posted 27 goals and 153 points. He added 51 points in 130 WHA appearances in the final two seasons of his 12-year career.
